What is the Purpose of Creative Design Photography?
Much like a painter brings a mental image to canvas, a creative photographer is able to use their camera and skill set to create a compelling visual image. There are many uses for creative design photos, including editorial content, advertisements, or personal use. Photo illustrations are often powerful complements to magazine articles or published editorials, because they can illustrate complex ideas for which a normal photograph would not be adequately compelling. They can also add visual interest to mundane editorial copy for which a straight-forward photograph would be dull; an article about farmer’s market vegetables may suddenly jump off the page when accompanied by a veggie mosaic photograph. In our everyday lives, we most often see examples of creative design in advertisements. A photo is worth a thousand words, so it’s both efficient and effective for businesses to utilize unique, head-turning photographs that clearly communicate the message in their advertisements.
The Creation Process
How is a creative design photo born? The process is driven primarily by the client, whether the client has a clear vision of what they need executed or they merely have the beginnings of a concept. An experienced creative design photographer will let the client’s needs and goals be the foundation. From there, the photographer will work closely with the client through each step of creation to ensure the end result is the ideal realization of the vision.
