The Newborn
This may not be obvious to most people, but having your newborn photographed before one or two weeks of age is a great time to catch their newness, innocence, vulnerability, tenderness, and just the mere smallness of their features, and the suppleness of their skin. Babies are beautiful and adorable and they change every day.
Three to Four Months
At this point your baby is developing a personality. They are awake with their eyes open, and they smile at and interact with adults. This is a great time to take a professional photo. However, all children aren’t on the same schedule, so if your baby is a late bloomer, wait until they are ready.
Six Months
By six months of age babies can usually sit up on their own, giggle when you tickle or play peek-a-boo with them, and play with toys, so it is a great time for photos.
One Year
Of course, we are all familiar with the birthday milestones each year, and it is truly amazing how much your child can change, especially when developing from an adolescent into a teen! Don’t forget about having professional photos taken after their first year. Many children get yearly school photos, but family photos get neglected. So, once your children are in school, don’t forget to have a few professional family photographs taken over the years, too!
